Catch up

It's been a long time since I posted anything on here so felt it was time for a catch up!

Business is blooming through my facebook page: www.facebook.com/MeeksKnits

Nearly all my work is currently commissions which are resulting in some interesting makes!

Here are some pictures of my current favourites:

Three-toed Sloth.

These have proven popular, I've sold three so far and I love 'em!! Sloths are very popular everywhere at the moment and I think it's great!

Batman (Adam West Era).

Made from felt. I'm also working on a series of Dragonball characters in the same style.

Staghorn Cable Fingerless Gloves

Been making and selling a fair few pairs of these fingerless gloves recently - I love the staghorn cable! They're knitted in DK wool and are really cosy! The grey are really popular but i'm also currently knitting a pair in purple which I'll post a picture of when finished.

Here's what one satisfied customer had to say:
"Best/Coziest/prettiest gloves ever!!! (Serving me well on the way to and from work now that winter's struck!!)"

Polar Bear Hat

I originally started knitting this hat as an adult's Christmas present but got my sizes mixed up! I am selling this one in my Etsy shop (link below) for Children aged 12-18 months. It is knitted using baby soft DK wool and edged with crochet - incidentally this is my first crochet work and I'm rather pleased with the result!I hand made the pompoms using the same wool used for the rest of the hat and attached them to lengths of i-cord. I have now sorted the sizing and am knitting an adult sized version as originally planned. I then plan to knit a range of similar hats of different animals.

Halloween

I have knitted a range of halloween themed items which are for sale on my Etsy shop.

Commemorative Cushion Cover

My Fiancee's brother got married a couple of weeks ago and I made them this cushion as a wedding present. I cross stitched the names and date of the wedding onto good quality white cotton fabric. The back material (below) is actually a Liberty print that was printed on the wrong fabric. the cushion cover was sew together by hand as my machine was broken. It is open on one end and held closed with press studs.

Saturday 2 June 2012

I haven't been able to knit much recently due to a suspected Repetitive Strain Injury in my fingers. I miss it so much. I get so fidgety when i'm watching TV that i've developed an addiction to awful Facebook games!! If any fellow crafters out there have any experience or advice on this then please get in touch.

Its feeling a lot better today so I may do a little gentle knitting to keep it exercised. I will keep you all updated. Just wanted to explain why I haven't been updating this blog or my Etsy shop.

Very Hungry Caterpillar baby cocoon.

A friend asked me to knit this for him to give to his soon-to-be-born Niece. I followed a pattern for a standard baby cocoon and newborn hat then knitted antennae and made the eyes and nose out of felt. I knitted the cocoon using DK wool for newborns and doubled the wool to make it extra chunky and cosy! The hat was knitted with DK baby wool.
